2fae9e5d26 Use new macros, HELP_OPTION_DESCRIPTION and VERSION_OPTION_DESCRIPTION 
instead of hard-coding --help and --version descriptions.
Split --help output into smaller pieces.
Use fputs, not printf.

1f47a082c4 Include xalloc.h. 
(main): Use dir_name rather than the underlying dir_name_r.
The former now handles cwd-relative names with drive-letter prefixes.
