Jim Meyering 7e9a874be6 Don't fail when run with VERBOSE=yes. ...

Do `set +x' before starting the subshell
from which we invoke chgrp.  Otherwise, the output from the
VERBOSE=yes-induced `set -x' would result in spurious differences.
