Define to ptrdiff_t, without bothering to check HAVE_STDDEF_H.
(This type really should be intptr_t, but that's a C99ism.)

Include <string.h> unconditionally.
(struct obstack): Assume __STDC__ for types of members
chunkfun, freefun, extra_arg.
